Kalona residents impacted by last weeks flooding are eligible for some assistance. With the help of HACAP, or Hawkeye Area Community Action Program, the City of Kalona is providing a limited number of food kits consisting of non-perishable items. Also, things like mops and rubber gloves are being made available to citizens dealing with flooded basements. The clean-up kits were provided by the American Red Cross. The kits can be obtained by stopping at city hall during business hours, or by calling the emergency number included in the recorded message heard when calling city hall after hours.
