As of this week, corn in Iowa is considered good for the most part. According to the Iowa Crop and Progress report, only 7% of corn in Iowa is poor or very poor, 16% is fair, 55% of corn is good and 25% is excellent. Corn is approximately 11 days ahead of last year and two days ahead of the five-year average with 59% silking.
Soybeans are also doing well, with 20% fair, 54% good and 20% excellent. In southeast Iowa 74% of soybeans are blooming and 25% are setting pods at this time.
