Corn, Soybeans Ahead of Last Year’s Crop

Corn is nearly two weeks ahead of last year and about one week ahead of the five-year average. Across Iowa, 85% of corn is at or beyond the silking stage with 76% of the corn crop in good to excellent condition. Also, soybeans are ahead of last year and the average with 82% blooming or beyond. Last year at this time, 12% of soybeans were setting pods but at this time 41% of the crop is setting pods and 74% of the crop is in good to excellent condition.
