The Washington softball team plays for a chance to go to state for the third time in-a-row tonight, when they travel up to Cedar Rapid Xavier to play Clear Creek Amana.

The Demons upset highly ranked Davenport Assumption at Assumption, while CCA upset highly ranked Xavier to get to the finals.

Washington’s bats worked through the lineup, and will need to do so tonight. The Demons are led by Grace Redlinger with a .392 average, two homers and 22 RBI’s, while three other seniors follow her closely with Stephanie Fishback in second with a .364 average, Ashley Rausch .comes in with a .345 average and 29 RBI’s, and Chayse Jaspering comes in with a .311 average. Rausch will throw again in the circle tonight with her 1.73 ERA, 162 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .180.

The Clippers are 21-17 this season, and are led at the plate by Molly Villhauer with a .410 average, 36 RBI’s and three homers. Molly Neubauer is second with a .363 average and five homers, and Lauren Stopko is third with a .336 average. Lexi Kinnaird is the top arm for the Clippers with a 17-7 record, 1.12 ERA, 177 strikeouts and opponents are hitting .199 off of her.

Tonight’s game is for a trip to state, and both of these squads have a history with Fort Dodge that they would like to continue.
