The Washington Demon baseball team fell in the district championship to Solon last night.
Washington lost 7-5, but was down 7-2 at one point in the game.
The Demons started the game off the right way when Walker Breard came up with a runner on and one down in the top of the first and smashed a two run homer to put the Demons on top 2-0 to start the game, but Solon came back in the bottom and hit Zach Londberg early, and with a couple of Demon errors tied it up 2-2.
Solon continued to score, putting up five more runs in the next three innings while the Demons tallied four errors in the first four innings. Elijah Wood was called in in relief of Londberg in the second inning, and kep the game close, but Solon continued to score until the score was 7-2 going into the top of the fifth.
Once again Jacob Green found his way on off of an RBI single that scored Mason Quigley, and Breard out did himself with another two run shot to straight away center to get the Demons within two. Tanner Knupp came in to close out the final two innings, and threw two short order innings, to give the Demons a chance, but in the top of the seventh the Demons got the bases loaded and stranded all of them.
Washington was led by Breard at the plate with two homers, going 2-3 with four RBI’s and a two runs, while Green and Blake Weidman both with 2-3.
Washington ends their season with the loss to Solon at 17-15.
