An invasive species responsible for killing ash trees in the United States continues its spread across Iowa.

Muscatine County is the latest in the state to have an infestation positively identified by a federal identifier. The insect’s larva was found in a tree in the City of Muscatine, making it the fourteenth confirmed infestation in the state. Locally, the Iowa EAB team has collected larva in Mount Pleasant and Fairfield. A quarantine restricting the movement of ash tree products to non-quarantined areas of other states has been in effect since February.
