Rainfalls have caused flooding in the area recently. Larry Smith, Emergency Management Coordinator for Washington and Keokuk counties, reminds motorists to be careful when traveling when severe weather is in the area. If you come across a road that is covered with water remember to turn around and don’t drown. He adds to watch your surroundings in case you have to exit your vehicle to seek shelter due to severe weather or if you need to call 911 and give your location.
