A Kalona man is continuing his support of a national non-profit dedicated to helping the families of police officers who are killed while on duty.Warren Ropp says he organized the Fallen Officers Memorial Race in 2010 to raise money and awareness for COPS, which stands for Concerns Of Police Survivors.
The COPS organization helps with funeral arrangements and also organizes retreats for the fallen officers’ families. Ropp says they’ve raised $25,000 in the four years it has been held during the Knoxville Sprint Car Nationals. The 5th annual race is being held at the Knoxville Raceway next week on August 6th and 7th.
Ropp says this week they’re promoting the non-profit and race with one of their Legends cars, the type of vehicle used in the Fallen Officers Memorial Race. The racecar is on display at Freedom Security Bank until Friday.
