Washington Soil and Water Conservation District has announced funds are still available for the Water Quality Initiative. The funds are for cover crops, no-till or strip till, or using a nitrification inhibitor. These funds are available to producers who have not tried these practices before. Acres are limited to 160 per producers. For planting cover crops, the cost share rate is $25 per acre. For no-till or strip till it is $10 per acre and using a nitrification inhibitor when applying fertilizer in the fall it is $3 per acre. Applications should be submitted to the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District office.
