The Highland softball team broke the 30 win mark on Friday, but tonight isn’t about records, it is about making it to state. They are looking to make their first trip back since 2009 when they were State champions.

The Huskies take on Pella Christian in the regional final tonight that will more like a home game tor Highland, with Washington hosting.

Highland is led by one of the top bats in the state with Cheyann Adamson, a lead-off hitter hitting .583 with 39 RBI’s, three homers, five triples, two doubles, and 48 runs scored. Morgan Craig is the second batter with a .500 average, 36 RBI’s and 38 runs scored. Highland has seven batters hitting over .300 on the season. Katie Springer is the top arm with a 26-1 record, 1.35 ERA and 179 strikeouts on the season.

Pella Christian comes in at 16-18 on the season, and winning 6-1 over Jesup to get to the final. Tessa Howerzyl is the top bat with a .371 average, 20 RBI’s and four homers, and is the only hitter hitting over .300 on the team, and only three batters outside of her are hitting over .250. in the circle is Natalie Vos with a 2.85 ERA, and 58 strikeouts, and Nicole Kelderman with an 8-11 record, 4.76 ERA and 40 strikeouts.
