Lone Tree baseball is on to the state tournament today for the first time since 2001 and the second time in school history.
Lone Tree will play Gehlen-Catholic in the first round in Des Moines.
The Lions are led at the plate by Ty Robertson with a .379 average, 27 RBI’s and two homers on the season, while Erik Murry, the hero of the district final game, is second with a .368 average, 15 RBI’s and 13 runs scored. Lone Tree has six batters hitting over .300 this season. On the mound is Erik Murry with an 8-2 record, .72 ERA, 99 strikeouts and opponents are hitting just .122 off of him.
Gehlen Catholic is 29-3 on the season. Solomon Freking is their leading hitter with a .456 average and 21 RBI’s, while Lucas Hunt is the second bat with a .402 average and 23 RBI’s. Their have their whole batting order plus a player hitting .300 or better on the season. On the mound is Mitchell Flack with a 6- 1 record, 1.18 ERA and 61 strikeouts, while Blake Wittgen has an 8-1 record, 1.21 ERA and 61 strikeouts.
