The all-district teams were released for class 1A baseball, and here are the area players that made the list.
Lone Tree’s Erik Murry was the only local player that made it on first team. Murry hit .364 and had a 5-2 record on the mound. He also threw in the district title game against Highland and won, the Sub-state title game against Burlington Notre Dame and won, and threw in the first round of the state tournament.
Lone Tree head coach Steve Gibson said this about Erik Murry after their state quarterfinal game on Saturday.
“He’s been a workhorse for us all year, and the best part is, he’s only a junior and we’ll have him back next year,” Gibson said. “I can’t say enough about him, and like I said he has been our workhorse, and had we found a way to scratch two or three runs across, maybe it’s a different ball game early. I thought he was on today. He kept them off balance for the most part; that’s a good hitting team. You’re not going to come up here and strikeout double digits like he has been, but I thought he pitched very well.”
On second team, IMS’s Dallas Nye was chosen as an outfielder with his .397 average, and Sigourney’s Peyton Crawford was chosen for his .384 average and 3-4 pitching record for utility.
