This July is predicted to be one of the 10 coolest on record, according to Harry Hillaker, State Climatologist. In Washington, the average temperature for July was 69.8 degrees while the norm is 74.4 degrees. The average max temperature for the area was about five degrees below the norm and the average minimum temperature was about four degrees below normal. The overall year-to-date average temperature for Washington is about four degrees below the norm 48.7 degrees. Also, parts eastern and northern Iowa have not reached 90 degrees yet this year.
