Work is underway for the two-story mural that will be painted on the Washington Public Library. Debbie Stanton, Director of the Library states the library board selected an original design for the mural, which will be painted by University of Iowa Master of Fine Arts candidate Erin Rappleye. Stanton explains the design is based on the Horsehead Nebula with the silhouette of a person and it will have various colors. The wall, which faces the alley, has been power washed and is drying so the artist can begin painting later this week, weather permitting. Also, Washington High School students who are members of the Art Club will be assisting with the public artwork. The mural is free to the city.
