Washington Go Getter Collin Murphy received the Judge’s Choice trophy from Noon Kiwanis for his presentation about the family tradition of 4-H. Washington County 4-H will send four intermediate 4-Hers to the State Fair: David Hora from Jackson Jets with his “Super Soy” presentation. Kristen Twinam and Brooke Stout with a presentation about Organ Donation and Katie Palmer with her presentation about Salmonella. Amanda Pfeifer of the Riverside Enterprisers and Bows & Bullets 4-H Club was awarded as an alternate for the State Fair.

A number of Washington 4-H’ers have already been selected to go to the state fair, as the Washington County 4-H Communications Night was held this week. Wednesday evening, 42 area 4-H’ers gave educational presentations and seven students took part in extemporaneous speaking. The following 4-H’ers will be going to the state fair: Riley Hahn and Roy Carter for junior presentations; David Hora, Kristen Twinam, Brooke Stout and Katie Palmer for intermediate presentations; Macy Marek for senior presentation; and Maddie Hora and Kaitlin Hora in the extemporaneous speaking division. Also, Collin Murphy and Cheyenne Sedlacek received Judge’s Choice trophies from Noon Kiwanis.

The fair runs July 13th through the 18th at the Washington County Fairgrounds.

Riley Hahn of the Lime Creek Livewires and Roy Carter of the Jackson Jets 4-H Club will represent Washington County at the State Fair for junior presentations. Leah Marek and Lucas Kitchen received alternate honors and not pictured Beau Stutzman received the Judge’s Choice trophy from Noon Kiwanis. There were 18 juniors who presented in this category.

Senior 4-Her Cheyenne Sedlacek earned a Judge’s Choice award from the Noon Kiwanis. Addie Pacha of the Jackson Jets earned State Fair alternate honors and Macy Marek member of the Washington County Council will represent Washington at the Iowa State Fair in August with her presentation on the Pure Water Foundation. Other senior participants included Sage Becker, Kaitlin Hora, Maddie Hora and Hannah Van Roekel.

Members of the Jackson Jets 4-H Club Maddie Hora and Kaitlin Hora were selected as the two State Fair selections in the Extemporaneous speaking division. These participants draw a topic, have 30 minutes to write a 4-6 minute speech and then deliver it to an audience. Other participants included Jack Carter, Makenzi Marek, Jonah Van Roekel, Macy Marek, and Keiffer Sexton. Sexton was selected as the alternate for the Iowa State Fair.
