Unemployment Rates Increase Slightly in KCII Area

While the unemployment rate for the state remained at 4.4% from May to June it rose slightly in Washington County from 3.2% in May to 3.8% in June.

Techel Guilty

Scott County court authorities tell KCII News that Seth Techel has been found guilty of both felony counts he was charged with, first degree murder and nonconsensual termination of a pregnancy in connection with the 2012 shooting death of his wife Lisa Techel. Celebration of life services for 91-year-old Phyllis Mae Jones of Washington will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday (7/27) at the First Baptist Church in Washington. Visitation will begin at noon Saturday (7/26) at the Jones and Eden Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. Memorials have been established for the First Baptist Church, Lending Hands or Hospice Compassus.
