An organization in Riverside has made some recommendations dealing with the proposed community center. The Riverside Foundation submitted the suggestions to the city in writing, which the council has agreed to support. The non-profit recommended putting the facility on the 11 acres near the elementary school the city owns, and partnering with the YMCA of Washington to manage it. Also, using the results of a 2012 survey, the foundation outlined the amenities the center should feature. The survey had citizens rank them by priority. The top ten includes a gym, indoor track, library and social area. According to Riverside Foundation President, Julie Oriano, nearly 300 residents took part in the survey online and through a mailer.
