Damage caused by flooding and severe weather that started in late June has prompted a disaster proclamation for Louisa County. Governor Branstad issued the proclamation of disaster emergency for the county Wednesday.

According to Louisa County Emergency Management Director Staci Griffin, the Iowa Individual Assistance Program has been activated for those impacted. The program will provide grants of up to $5,000 for households with incomes up to 200 percent of the federal poverty  level, or a maximum annual income of roughly $39,000.  The grants are available for home or car repairs, replacement of clothing or food, and for the expense of temporary housing.
