While a severe thunderstorm was never designated for Washington County, storms did travel through the area yesterday and a tornado watch was issued. 1.77 inches of rain fell in Washington yesterday. In Kalona last night a person operating a tractor tried to go through water and became stuck, authorities assisted in getting the subject to safety.

Also, in Riverside powerlines were reportedly sparking in trees in a residential yard; Riverside Fire and Alliant Energy responded to the scene and resolved the issue. Severe thunderstorms were reported in Iowa, Johnson and Keokuk counties.

In addition, the following locations are under flood warnings: the English River at Kalona, Iowa River at Iowa City, Iowa River at Lone Tree, North Skunk River at Sigourney, Iowa River at Columbus Junction, Iowa River at Wapello and Cedar River at Conesville.
