The Highland softball team takes their 28-1 record into the playoffs tonight to face Van Buren.

Van Buren won their first round game over Pekin 13-12 last night.

Highland has absolutely dominated the competition this season, including beating their last three opponents 14-0, 12-0 and 12-0.

Highland is led at the plate by Cheyann Adamson with a .584 average that sits sixth in the entire state of Iowa. Adamson has 36 RBI’s, three homers, four triples and two doubles. Behind Adamson is Morgan Craig with a .500 average, 34 RBI’s and three triples. In the circle is Katie Springer who is 24-1 on the season with a 1.34 ERA, 166 strikeouts and opponents hit just .185. If Springer falters at all, Katie Chalupa has the ability to come in in relief as well.

Van Buren comes in 6-17, and winning two of their last three. Taylor Murguia is the top bat with a .403 average and 21 RBI’s, while Libby King is the second bat with a .364 average and 10 RBI’s. In the circle, the top arm is Alicia Fitzsimmons with a 6-8 record, 2.56 ERA and 51 strikeouts.
