The City of Riverside has established an urban chicken policy. Restrictions include a limit of six hens, no roosters and a size limit for coops. Those interested in raising urban chickens also need signatures from next door neighbors.  According to City Administrator Rusty Rogerson, residents who already own chickens will need to go through this process. The City of Kalona’s urban chicken policy was approved in May. So far, the Kalona City Council has received and approved two applications.
