The first reading of a new ordinance regarding regulations for adult entertainment businesses for the City of Washington was approved at this week’s council meeting. The initial draft stated adult oriented establishments could not be within 1,000 feet of each other or an establishment which sells alcohol, however the council struck these items. Councilman Jaron Rosien moved to strike these clauses, stating he believes the city’s interests and downtown is protected, so if such establishments want to be near each other it wouldn’t be a problem.
Some of the other regulations regarding such businesses include not being within 1,000 feet of churches, schools or day cares, also the exterior of the building can only be one color and hours of operation can only be within 10 a.m. to midnight seven days a week.
