An Independence Day celebration is being held in Wayland. Some of the today’s activities include the parade and Freedom Fun walk/run in the morning, as well as the kickball tournament and the firefighter water fights in the afternoon.

The festivities will conclude at dusk with the fireworks display at the WACO Football Field, shot off by the Wayland Firefighters. The fireworks are provided by the city of Wayland.

Tim Egli is the incoming president of the Wayland Lions Club which sponsors some of the day’s events. Egli says their breakfast from 6:30 to 9:30 will include pancakes, eggs and sausage. Freewill donations go to the organizations they support.
