A fatal wreck happened in Washington County yesterday afternoon at about 4:38 p.m. two miles west of Washington on G38, west of Kiwi Avenue. According to the Iowa State Patrol, a Dodge Ram truck driven by 21-year-old Timothy Milligan of Montrose was westbound on G38 and attempting to turn around in the road when a Ford Mustang traveling westbound on G38 struck the front of the truck. Both vehicles came to rest in the south ditch.

The Mustang was driven by 37-year-old Craig Bartholomew of Washington. A passenger of the Mustang, 46-year-old Dennis Albright of Washington died as a result of the accident. Bartholomew was transported by ambulance to Washington County Hospital and Clinics.

Milligan and passenger 21-year-old Stephanie Wetterling were also injured and transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital. Also, 21-year-old Alexis Althar of Ft. Madison, who was in the truck, was transported by Air Care to the University of Iowa. In addition, three children were in car seats in the Dodge Ram and were transported to either the University of Iowa or WCHC.

Iowa State Patrol, Washington County Sheriff’s personnel, Washington Ambulance, Washington Fire, Washington Rescue, Air Care, Med Force and the Medical Examiner responded to the incident.
