A local historian will tour the country with a historic film collection beginning in March. According to Michael Zahs, owner of the Brinton film collection, thirteen of the oldest films in the collection, which are currently being restored, will be premiered at the Ainsworth Opera House before the tour begins.

He says they’ll focus on Iowa at first, and then the rest of the country. 50 engagements have been scheduled so far. Zahs explains they have Frank and Indiana Brinton’s record books from when they toured with the films in the early 1900s, so they’re able to retrace the couple’s steps and screen the films in the locations they were played at over 100 years ago.

He adds Humanities Iowa and the National Endowment for Humanities have said they would support a worldwide tour.
