The Kalona City Council will consider road repairs for the current fiscal year at tonight’s meeting. The council will also discuss flood mitigation. At their last meeting, City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh was given a directive to investigate ten areas in the city that may benefit from measures that would reduce the impact of flooding events. With their hazard mitigation plan and through their participation in the National Flood Insurance Program, the city is able to apply for federal funds to finance such projects.
