Homeowners in the City of Hills will likely be connected to a water supply system by the fall of 2015. The city is having the system, including a water tower and water plant, constructed by two contractors for roughly $5 million. Hills City Clerk Bonnie Hanson says water mains are currently being connected to homes on the north side of town, and Maquire Iron has begun building the water tower.

The amount the city will charge for water was recently established by the city council. The rate will be $44 per month for the first 4,000 gallons, plus an additional $10 until the loan financing this project is paid off.
