The Kalona City Council will look at setting a bid opening for this fiscal year’s road repair projects tonight. Also on the agenda for this evening’s meeting is another discussion on their Hazardous Mitigation Plan process.

At their last meeting, the council approved a proposal to hire Kalona resident and floodplain manager, Steve Lafaurie, to write grants and develop long term plans to curb the impact of flooding. According to City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh they’re looking at applying for grants being offered by the state and federal government, as well as local organizations.
