A statue that spent 100 years at the United States Capitol building is now in Mount Pleasant. The historic bronze statue of James Harlan will be unveiled on the Iowa Wesleyan College campus this afternoon. The ceremony begins at 2pm. Harlan was a U.S. Senator, Secretary of the Interior, advisor to Abraham Lincoln and was president of Iowa Wesleyan from 1853 to 1855. The decision to permanently loan the statue to the college was made by the Iowa legislature.
