A house is being demolished in Keota to make room for a veterans memorial. According to City Clerk Niki Osweiler, the structure at 605 West Broadway Avenue will likely be torn down today.

The Keota City Council was approached to assist with the demolition by members of the VFW who are raising money for the monument. The property was donated to the VFW by its previous owner.

The black marble monument that’s been proposed will include the names of veterans from the Keota and Harper area. Organizers have a list of 1,900 individuals.
