Democratic candidate for Lieutenant Governor Monica Vernon of Cedar Rapids visited Washington over the weekend. Vernon told KCII News voters can expect a fresh start from the Jack Hatch and Vernon campaign. Vernon spoke to a group of citizens in downtown Washington Saturday morning. She stated she and Hatch support early child education for all Iowans, helping Iowans get their GED, investing in infrastructure, regionalizing the Iowa Department of Economic Development to strengthen local ties to projects, among other topics.

Vernon added the campaign isn’t about partisan issues but about making each county in Iowa a better place. Vernon has served on the Cedar Rapids City Council, operated a small research firm, taught at the Tippie College of Business at the University of Iowa and has a degree in journalism and an MBA from the University of Iowa.
