Students heading to college this fall may need some shots before classes start. Lynn Fisher is a Public Health Nurse in Washington County. She says colleges usually require proof of childhood vaccines and the date they were administered. She adds there are colleges that require a meningitis vaccine, while some even have mandatory skin tests that check for tuberculosis. Some optional vaccines include those for polio and human papillomavirus. Washington County Public Health is able to look up vaccination records for students who don’t have the documentation they need.
