The Washington County Board of Supervisors met with representatives of Lee County and RUSS, Regional Utility Service Systems last night to discuss a proposed project in the Mooar Powdertown area of Lee County. The unincorporated town has approximately 50 residences. Lee County Supervisor Ernie Schiller explained in 2009 the people of Mooar Powdertown approached the supervisors looking for a solution to their waste services as some were having difficulty selling their homes. Schiller added as individual systems failed a nearby lake became contaminated.

According to Bruce Hudson, Director of RUSS, the preliminary engineering report has been conducted and the people are on board with the proposed systems. Multiple town meetings have been held regarding the project. Hudson added the survey team will determine more specifics.

Superivor Jack Seward stated if the people want this and they are aware of all of their options then why should a county stand in their way. Every county that is a member of RUSS has to approve the intent of the project so RUSS may issue bonds to fund the project. The people of Mooar Powdertown will have monthly maintenance costs for the system.
