WACO School District is accepting bids for a solar project estimated to cost $920,000. Plans include installing a large solar array at the elementary school in Crawfordsville and a smaller system at the secondary building in Wayland. Panels will also be put near the concession stand and track, as well as the softball and baseball fields. According to Superintendent Darrel Smith, they expect to cut their energy spending at the elementary school by over 80%. He adds they plan to choose a bidder at a special meeting slated for August 26th.
