Are you involved in your child’s education? The Washington Community School Board is looking to increase parental involvement on committees and in attendance at parent-teacher conferences this year. School board president Eric Turner states one way parents can help is by joining committees.

One committee that is looking to add more parents is SIAC, School Improvement Advisory Committee. The group consists of parents, students and staff and works to address topics or best ways to approach changes and improvements. SIAC meets about once a month for an hour. Speaking of SIAC, Turner says it is one way parents’ ideas are being heard by the district and used to make decisions.

Those interested in joining a committee should contact the central office. For more information on how to get involved listen to today’s Washington Page with Turner.
