Next week, the Wellman City Council will discuss projects meant to help the town avoid issues that arose when flash flooding hit this summer. City Administrator Nick Pacha says they received 6 ½ inches of rain in a 24 hour period which led to problems for residents and business owners.

He shares their engineer has studied the surface area runoff in the east half of the city, and has come up with suggestions on how to improve drainage. The projects, focused along 1st Avenue, could cost anywhere from $150,000 to $250,000.

At a work session scheduled for Monday city officials will prioritize the projects and find a way to finance them.
