The Mid Prairie Golden Hawks got a big win last night on homecoming as they beat the LM Falcons 35-3 on AM 1380 FM 102.5 and on KCIIraido.com. On the Golden Hawks second drive Ryan Cortum threw a 35 yard touchdown pass to Jacob Kukuzke. Austin Slaubaugh would rush for the two point conversion to make 8-0. Then in the second quarter Cortum threw an 86 yard touchdown to Colin Weber. The extra point was missed and the score was 14-0. There were two big momentum swings that went in Mid Prairie’s favor. With under a minute to go in the second quarter Mid Prairie threw an interception that set up LM in position to cut the lead going to half. A fumble ended the drive and Mid Prairie was able to keep the lead 14-0 going into half.

To start the third quarter LM kept the ball for over nine minutes in the third quarter, but was unable to convert on a fourth and short from the 4 yard line to keep the drive going. From there it was all Mid Prairie. In the beginning of the fourth quarter they recovered a fumble in the end zone that resulted in a touchdown to make the score 21-0. Shortly after Mid Prairie got the ball back and homecoming king Slaubaugh got in from two yards out to make the score 28-0. LM did get a score in the 4th quarter getting a field goal to make it 28-3. But Mid Prairie put the explanation point when Nolan Faselt ran for 75 yards for a touchdown to end the score 35-3. LM had nearly twice as many plays run on offense, but Mid Prairie had over 400 yards of total offense to LM’s 229.
