A group of antique vehicle owners will make their way from New London to Brighton this morning. Participants in the 3rd Annual Red Flag Horseless Carriage Tour are recreating an event that first took place in England in 1896. It was held to celebrate the end of a law that required motor vehicles be preceded by an individual on foot holding a red flag.

The gas, electric and steam powered automobiles made before 1928 will be on display when they arrive in Brighton. The Brighton Chamber is holding the Quilt and Artist Show from 11 to 2 in conjunction with this year’s tour. Live music is also planned, and tours of Lake Darling State Park will be available to those interested.
