Local cities are attempting to educate their citizens on the potential impact of the Emerald Ash Borer. The Kalona City Council, Trees Forever and Iowa’s Forestry Bureau are hosting two meetings that will cover the potential impact of the invasive insect and ways to deal with infestations. The first meeting is being held tomorrow at 6pm at the Kalona Public Library. The same discussion will be held for Wayland residents at the community center Wednesday. The closest infestations confirmed by the Iowa EAB team and federal identifiers were in Mount Pleasant and Fairfield. The beetle was first found in Iowa in 2010.
