Fairfield Police arrested two individuals for drinking and driving between August 25th and September 7th. The department was participating in Iowa’s special Traffic Enforcement Program, or sTEP, event, which involved heightened enforcement of traffic violations. Fairfield officers arrested two drivers for OWI, issued 14 citations to drivers not wearing their seatbelts and nine tickets for speeding. In addition, six drivers were arrested on narcotic related charges. The special enforcement efforts are scheduled around holidays, in this case it was Labor Day. The next begins November 25th, ahead of Thanksgiving on the 27th.
