An ordinance amendment that would slightly increase the City of Kalona’s sewer rate will have its second reading tomorrow. City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says their sewer rate would go from $2.80 per thousand gallons to $2.85, while the flat fee would increase a dollar to $12 under this proposal. Schlabaugh adds a homeowner using 9,000 gallons a month would see an increase of $1.40 on their bill. Tomorrow night’s City Council meeting begins at 7pm at the Community Center.
