A partnership between the City of Kalona and Meadow Brook Mobile Home Park is being considered. The owner is preparing to improve storm water drainage and pave streets within the park.
The park is a Tax Increment Financing, or TIF, subdivision. Money raised through the TIF program can be used to assist in the financing of low to moderate income housing infrastructure. Since mobile home parks fall under this category in Iowa, the city may be able to grant some of the funds needed for the storm water project.
Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says it isn’t a huge project, but it would be a huge benefit to those living at the mobile home park.
