Here is a look at results from yesterday’s sporting events around the KCII listening area.

In a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North matchup, the Highland Huskies survived a five set match with Wapello (18-25, 23-25, 25-23, 25-17, 15-6). Senior Courtnee Hahn led the Huskies with nine kills and three aces, while Senior Chelsey Lampe added 5 kills and a team high 17 assists in the victory. The win improves Highland to 12-7 overall on the season.

In a South Iowa Cedar Conference matchup, it was the Sigourney Savages falling in five sets to Iowa Valley. Senior Jordan Carter led the way with 19 kills and 15 digs, while freshman Leah Carter had 21 assists for the Savages in the setback. The loss drops Sigourney’s overall record to 7-7 on the year. They will be back in action Thursday at home against North English.

In cross country yesterday afternoon, the Columbus Wildcats competed in the Clear Creek Amana Invitational. The Wildcats girls and boys teams finished fifth overall in the team competition. In the boy’s competition, junior Josh Keller finished in tenth place with a team best time of 17:49. On the girls side, Ashley Canny finished in 19th place with a team best time of 19:07. The Wildcat cross country teams will be back in action next Monday apart of the Mike Jay Invitational at the Cedar Crest golf course in Columbus Junction.
