Parents of students at area schools including Washington, Mid-Prairie, Iowa Mennonite School, Highland and Keota, among others, may be eligible for money due to a lawsuit regarding school lunches across Iowa. A class action lawsuit was filed and a settlement was reached with Martin Brothers Distributing Company, Inc. regarding a conspiracy to restrain competition in the market for the sale of foods at schools. The company has agreed to pay nearly $2,000,000 to cover the claims. This means that parents of students may be eligible for $3.50 per student per school year since 2001.
