The Washington County Board of Supervisors were in consensus of supporting finding a new, permanent home for Washington County Public Health at yesterday’s supervisors meeting. The board, with Treasurer Jeff Garrett, will review the budget before setting a date for the public hearing. Director of Washington County Public Health Danielle Pettit-Majewski explained that the Board of Health has reinstated its building committee and is requesting a budget amendment for $365,000. She explains $100,000 was carried over by the department last year due to Medicaid reimbursements, $105,000 was already set aside for architectural fees, $150,000 was set aside for a new building for public health and a $10,000 private donation was received.

Also, it was explained that the department will look at any and all options from renovating a current structure to building new, but no specifics were given. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.
