There’s still time to go on a guided tour through Washington County’s Amish community. The Kalona Chamber of Commerce holds two bus tours Monday through Saturday beginning in April each year. The bus leaves the chamber office at 11am and 1pm. The last tours will be held Friday, October 31st.

The three tour guides take locals and visitors to southeast Iowa on the gravel roads north of Kalona that wind through an area the Amish settled in the mid-1800s. The settlement is one of the largest west of the Mississippi, and the oldest in the state.
