The Iowa Public Information Board has accepted the proposed penalty for Washington County Attorney Larry Brock. The vote was held Thursday.

After reviewing the case, an administrative law judge issued a written ruling on September 8th stating that Brock should face a penalty of $1,000 for violating the state’s open records laws. Brock has until next month to appeal the decision. The Public Information Board charged Brock after it took him three months to respond to a public records request. Deputy Director of the IPIB, Margaret Johnson, says according to Iowa code, the damages will be paid by the court imposing the fine to the local government body involved, which would be Washington County.
