Washington’s Cross Country team could very well face their toughest test of the season this week in their home meet.

The Demons home meet will take place tomorrow afternoon at the Washington Golf and Country Club. Among the teams set to compete in the meet include Burlington, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Keokuk, and Sigourney. Washington cross country coach Steve Roth says what make’s the meet challenging is the hills at the Country Club.

“There’s really tough inclines at the golf course.” Roth said, “This will be the toughest meet they have had all year. It’s too bad it is at our place, but it is what it is. I really want to thank the golf course for letting use their facility because it is a really nice facility.”

Roth added the meet will only make his teams tougher as they head towards the district meet next month. The event starts with the middle school girls and boys race at 4 o’clock followed by the boys and girls J/V race at 4:30. The meet will finish up at 5 o’clock with the running of the boys and girls varsity race.
