A project in Louisa County is one of many to benefit from the $5.5 million dispersed through Iowa’s Recreational Trails Program. The state Transportation Commission approved the grants earlier this week. $340,000 is going to Louisa County Secondary Roads for the Great River Road Bike Lane. According to County Engineer Larry Roehl, the paved shoulder will be installed along X61 from Highway 99 to 162nd Street. He adds the lane will make it safer for cyclists to travel along Louisa County’s portion of the Great River Road National Scenic Byway. The Great River Road follows the Mississippi River from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico.
