Brighton residents dealt with a power outage Wednesday. Roughly 500 Alliant Energy customers were without power for a few hours during the afternoon. According to Alliant Energy spokesman Justin Foss, the outage occurred after someone hit a power pole’s steel support wire. He says this type of incident is common during harvest. Foss reminds those operating farm equipment to keep an eye out for power lines and the guy wires that connect from power poles to the ground.
